Invited to attend a friends wedding in Croatia in the summer of 2019, my wife Liz and I decided to make a week of it.
But as soon as we'd arrived Liz was whisked off by our daughter Allie to attend a meal with all the other ladies, leaving me free to wander around Split for a while.
I started off by taking in the usual tourist sights, but then, as is my wont, I wandered off into the back streets looking for little more local authenticity.
This old stone window and its dilapidated wooden shutters caught my eye, with its impressive, if precarious, display of potted plants.
Obviously someone who cares about their home and it trying to make it look its best.
