The North Wales coast is a great place to watch and photograph a sunset from, especially in the summer months when the sun sets to the northwest out over the Irish Sea.
One of my favourite places for a sunset shooting session is the promenade at Deganwy, with easy parking and a great old fashioned seaside shelter to set up your camera in, protected from any breezes that might be blowing.
And breezes are an issue when you're photographing with a 100-400mm zoom lens, as the tripod mounted setup can twitch around in the gusts.
Not a problem if you're just taking individual images, but when you're shooting hundreds of frames as I was, in order to create my Deganwy Sunset Timelapse #13 video, then even slight movements of the camera/lens combo during shooting can result in a time lapse video guaranteed to induce motion sickness for the viewer.
Hence my appreciation of the shelter on Deganwy promenade, which I used to good effect for this time lapse video.
This is one of the stills that I captured that evening, showing the sun just emerging from a bank of cloud near to the tidal rescue tower just off Conwy Morfa on the other side of the Conwy estuary.
