Four o'clock in the afternoon and my wife Liz and I are trying to stand upright in a howling gale on the very exposed beach at Dinas Dinlle on the North Wales coast.
One thing's for sure, we won't be taking a leisurely stroll along this part of the coast today, but I'm determined not to let the opportunity pass by.
So with eyes streaming and camera straps flapping I hunker down onto the pebbles to capture this image of the beach, with the mountains of the Llyn Peninsula seemingly just a short distance away over the sea.
Why am I bothering, when there's far more sheltered photographic opportunities just a few miles east?
Well apart from the mountains I was very drawn to the strong diagonal lines formed by the pebbles, sand and sea, disappearing off to a vanishing point somewhere just off the left hand side of the frame, which naturally draws the viewer's eye from the detail of the pebbles at the bottom of the image, up through to the mountains at the top.
A simple, but very effective composition that was well worth getting a bit windswept to capture on silicon.
