Details details.
Whenever I'm exploring a new place, especially one as beautiful and with such historical significance as Dubrovnik, I'm always on the lookout for interesting details that convey something of the atmosphere of a place.
In any popular tourist location (Dubrovnik was heaving the day Liz and I were there) taking photos at street level is quite tricky as there's almost always people in the way.
But point your camera up a little and a wealth of interesting views, devoid of Coolpix clutching tourists, opens up to you.
This old street lamp, set on a stained and crumbling wall, caught my eye, and I took quite a few photos as we walked by, much to the bemusement of the locals and tourists alike.
Of the several different compositions I had available, this simple square format showing just the lamp, wall and a bit of old wiring was the one that appealed to me most on subsequent viewing.
