Wandering round the streets of old Dubrovnik in the heat of the midday sun really is for mad dogs and englishmen, but that's what Liz and I found ourselves doing during our day stopover in this historically and architecturally fascinating place. Well you don't sail all that way and then not explore do you?
As is our wont, we spent a lot of our time wandering the back streets away from the main tourist areas, looking for sights to photograph that encapsulate the atmoshpere of a place.
This side street was one such venue, with its high pale walls, stark angles and crisp shadows.
On reviewing the images of old Dubrovnik once back home, I found that a monochrome conversion really brought out the timeless nature of this fascinating town.
