This is Dunluce castle, on Northern Ireland's Antrim coast.
I'd already spent quite a few minutes photographing the castle from the 'standard' tourist viewpoint (see Dunluce Castle #1), with very pleasant results, but I reckoned there was more to be had, photographically speaking, from these dramatic ruins, so I climbed down the the base of the castle to see what there was to see.
I'm glad I made the effort, as the castle ruins, in partial silhouette against the sunlit clouds. took on a much more sinister and brooding appearance than the 'nice' view from up above.
Looking up at the battlements you could almost imagine the fierce battles fought here in times past, and all from just a change of viewpoint.
