Estes Park, in Colorado, must be one of the most friendly and lovely places to stay in the United States.
My wife Liz and I certainly found it to be so during our two week holiday there, spent exploring the nearby Rocky Mountain National Park and generally wandering around town, drinking coffee, looking at the sights and meeting the local folk.
Liz was very taken with the shops selling hoodies and T shirts (of which there were many), so while she would browse away inside I would hang around outside and people watch.
I saw some very interesting sights I can tell you - These Colorado folks are quite a varied bunch!
Well, while I was sitting outside yet another hoodie shop on the main street running through the centre of town, when in the distance I heard what sounded like an approaching earthquake.
Up the main street rode a gang of Harley Davidson motorbikers, looking and sounding very impressive on their highly chromed behemoths.
I've always had a soft spot for Harleys, not from an engineering point of view, but as mobile works of art, especially the ones whose owners have gone to the trouble of customising.
So I was very pleased when the nearest traffic lights turned red and the whole convoy stopped just next to where I was sitting.
I really wanted to capture the moment with a photograph, but I reckoned it might be polite to ask first, so I gestured hopefully at my camera while catching the eye of the nearest biker.
Receiving a nod, I went to the side of the road and took this one photo before the lights changed and the gang rumbled off up the street and out of town.
