You can't visit the Lake District without photographing a lake, but what to do when the weather is just a flat grey?
The problem is that a flat grey sky is just so boring and kills an image dead when given too much emphasis, so on this occasion I used an overhanging tree to effectively hide the sky while still allowing me to include the lake and the background hills in my composition.
I think this image sums up the Lake District very well, there's a lake, hills, trees and an old bit of fence sticking into the water.
Converting the image to monochrome and adding a vignette gives just the right melancholy feel that was in my mind on this greyest of days.
