The story behind this image

During our few days in Florence my wife Liz and I explored many different areas of the city, but one that stays in our memory more than most were the Bardini Gardens to the south of the river Arno.

These gardens were very quiet, with not many visitors, which added to the other-worldly ambiance one felt there.

One of the most attractive features we found was this floral arch, leading off from the terrace by the tea rooms down tto the path that leads down to the river.

The play of afternoon autumn light through the hanging foliage was just beautiful, and summed up the quiet nature of this place, compared with the hustle and bustle of the city below.
