I think the highlight of the week that my wife Liz and I spent exploring Normandy was our trip to Giverny.
Made famous as the home of Claude Monet, one of the foremost impressionist painters of the nineteenth century, the whole village is a visual delight.
One of the most well known (and photographed) locations is the lily pond and Japanese bridge which form part of the water gardens, especially constructed by Monet to serve as an outdoor studio and subect matter for many of his paintings.
I know there must be thousands of images of this view floating around the internet, but that's no reason for me not to add my two pennyworth to the total.
In deference to Monet, and because I so much like this style, I created this impressionist version of the famous view, using something called the 'Orton' effect in PhotoShop to add a dreamlike quality to the final composition.
I like it, and I hope you do too!
