When on holiday, my wife Liz and I rarely visit the same spot twice, but for the small town of La Garita on the Atlantic coast of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands we made an exception.
Surrounded by rugged volcanic coastline, the town itself is just a little run down, more popular with the locals than with tourists and therefore a bit more 'lived in' than the more glamorous resorts further down the coast.
Liz and I took a stroll along the promenade in the opposite direction to that more usually taken to see the sights, just to find out what was there.
On the way we walked past this block of flats in the brutalist architectural style, complete with crumbling concrete balustrade.
A strangely melancholic sight on such a beautiful stretch of Atlantic coast.
