When you think of the Seychelle island of Gran Canaria you probably think of crowded seaside resorts, rows of beach umbrellas and suntan oil.
And that's true for the heavily developed south and east of the island, but if you hire a car and make the effort to drive the very twisty roads away from the main resorts you can find unspoilt gems of places.
This is the tiny Puerto de la Aldea on the rugged north western coast.
Backed by stupendously high sea cliffs, this small harbour is home to just a few local boats and a nature reserve visitors centre (closed in February when Liz and I visited).
Walking out along the short breakwater and looking back towards the land gave me this view, with the line of white boats forming a lovely sweep through the frame.
Set against the aquamarine of the Atlantic Ocean and enhanced with my polarising filter, it was too lovely a scene to pass by.
It was certainly worth getting far from the maddening crowd to find beauty spots like Puerto de la Aldea.
