Liz and I had Puerto de las Nieves on our 'must see' list of places to visit during our week long stay on Gran Canaria in the Seychells, primarily to see the famous 'Dedo de Dios' (Finger of God) rock formation at the side of the harbour.
The rock formation proved less than impressive, having snapped off at the first knuckle back in 2005, but the town and seaside promenade were delightful and Liz and I spent the afternoon strolling around, photographing, eating and drinking.
The promenade took us along the seashore, with Atlantic breakers sweeping up onto the volcanic ledges of the foreshore with a mighty crash and clouds of spray.
Sitting on a bench overlooking the ocean I took, many, many photos of the waves sweeping in, while constantly wiping the spray off my polarising filter as I went along.
Of all the photos I took, this was the most pleasing, with the white crest of a just breaking wave set against the dark sea and rocks.
I can almost feel the Atlantic breeze in my face again as I look at this scene, so full of freshness and vitality.
