During our week long winter break on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands my wife Liz and I spent most of our time off the beaten tourist tracks, exploring the less developed and more natural north coast.
One of our favourite spots on this part of the island is Puerto de Las Nieves, a charming seaside town with just a smattering of tourists to be seen amongst the locals.
This view shows the town from the winding coastal road just before it drops down to sea level.
Just a beautiful blend of the natural volcanic landscape, the white buildings of the harbour and the endless blue of the Atlantic ocean.
