For the budding geologist, the Seychelle island of Gran Canaria must be a wonderland.
During our week long explore of the island one of the main things that stood out for my wife Liz and myself was the volcanic rock formations.
With highly improbable eroded shapes and bands of vivid colour, the rocks were pretty much the features most photographed by myself during our stay.
This rather graphic pile of rock was by the side of the promenade at the west coast seaside town of Puerto de las Nieves.
I was attacted by the contrasts between the jumbled pile of dark rocks at the base of the formation and the lighter, red coloured rocks higer up the spire, set against the polarised blue of the sky.
It only took a couple of seconds to frame and shoot this photo as we walked past, but I'm really pleased with the structure and composition of the final image.
