The story behind this image

I'm blessed by living within easy driving distance of the North Wales coast.

In summer I can just drive for half an hour and be at a location like this at Llandulas in time for sunrise, enjoy the seaside, take photos for a while and then drive to work for my usual start time of 8am.

The beaches all along this stretch of coast are well provisioned with decaying groynes, which make the most attactive features and lead-in lines for any number of compositions.

Add some dramatic clouds, nicely blurred wave breaks and you've got the mix for a happy half hour or so behind the camera.

Just don't get so carried away that you miss a big wave coming at you, and have to spend the morning at work in wet socks and boots - that's something I would never do!
