This image, taken on Rhyl beach, North Wales, contains several elements that get me excited when looking for photo opportunities.
Number 1 - Lighting. The image is taken after sunset. I find I'm drawn more and more to photographing either before sunrise or after sunset, as the colours and lighting in the sky are more vivid and less contrasty then when the sun is still up.
Number 2 - Reflections. I will actively seek compositions that include reflections, hence my love of the coast, lakes, rivers. In fact, anywhere where there's some still water.
Number 3 - Sillhouettes. I look for simple, graphic compositions and a bold sillhouette, nicely positioned in the image, will grab the eye every time.
