With my wife Liz busy browsing in shops selling Icelandic wool and knitting patterns, I found myself with a few minutes to spare while exploring the streets of Akureyri, the main town in the north of Iceland.
As per the norm in Iceland, the architecture matched the landscape, a compilation of greys mostly, and not very photogenic.
However, the good people of Akureyri had made a sustained effort at cheering the streets up with large planters of brightly coloured flowers every few metres, which did a great job in alleviating the grey.
These blue flowers were my favourites form a photographic point of view, with a deep saturated colour combined with attractive patterns and textures.
I just had time to take a few hand held frames, of which this one was the sharpest, before Liz emerged and it was on to the next wool shop.
