This image shows the view inside the crater of an extinct (I hope!) volcano, at Kerio, to the south of Iceland, close to the capital Reykjavik.
What struck me the most vividly, and what I've emphasised in this image, was the colour contrast between the reddish pumice granules of the volcanic spew and the intense greens of the crater lake and sparse vegetation.
The weather was cold and dismal, with flat grey clouds over the scene which deposited a fine but soaking drizzle over us as we walked around the crater's edge.
Still every cloud has a silver lining, and the flat light, combined with my using a polarising filter, really allowed those two colours to come through fully saturated.
Mind you, I was quite glad to get back on the tour bus at the end of our twenty minute stopover.
