This panorama shows nearly a 180 degree view of the river Dee estuary just before it empties into the sea on the border between England and Wales.
I was placed on the docks at Connah's Quay at dusk, looking north across the river to Shotton with my trusty Canon 5D and tripod in order to make this stitched image.
Tracking from left to right through the scene, first of all we see the relatively new gas fired power station, followed by the QE2 suspension bridge. After that we traverse past the British Steel, sorry - Corus, sorry - Tata steel plant that dominates the north bank.
Industrial landscapes aren't what I usually photograph, but there were so many interesting elements to this 13 frame stitch I just couldn't resist, especially with the combination of natural and man-made lighting being so nicely balanced.
A click on the image above will open a much larger version that you can move around and see in more detail.
Alternatively, I also made a video out of this image, panning across the scene, to the accompaniment of my son Andy's guitar playing, which you can get to by following this link or by checking out my YouTube channel via the menu at the top of this page.
