My wife Liz and I spent the final few days of our two week holiday in the mountains of northern Italy exploring Lake Garda and the surrounding area.
Our little Fiat Panda hire car clocked up well over 1,000km during our stay, driving thought some magnificent scenery along some great roads.
One feature of driving around Lake Garda that I particularly enjoyed were the long tunnels, cutting thought the mountains where an external road was infeasible.
This picture shows the entrance to one such tunnel at Muslone, on the eastern side of Lake Garda, taken from a convenient layby with wonderful views out over the lake and mountains.
