In the autumn of 2018 my wife Liz and I spent a fantastic two weeks exploring the lakes and mountains of northern Italy.
Our apartment was situated above the charming town of Varenna, right on the shores of Lake Como, and although we spent a lot of time driving around the region, we also took time out to enjoy the local delights of Varenna itself.
This image of a ferry leaving Varenna dock and heading off across the lake was taken from the 'Greenway dei Patriarchi' promenade, which skirts the side of Lake Como and is an absolute delight to stroll along.
