In the autumn of 2018 my wife Liz and I spent an amazing two weeks exploring the lakes and mountains of northern Italy.
For the last few days of our holiday we decamped from Lake Como and headed east to Lake Garda, which proved to be quite different in terms of landscape and development than Lake Como.
Our first visit to Lake Garda was to the holiday resort of Sirmione at the southern end of the lake, a quite heavily developed area but we still managed to find a quiet spot for a walk and a look at the scenery.
This view across the lake to the mountains on the far side would have been a bit bland if it wasn't for the two canoeist who turned up at just the right moment!
