In the autumn of 2018 my wife Liz and I spent an amazing two weeks exploring the lakes and mountains of northern Italy.
As well as spending time at the major destinations of Lake Como and Lake Garda, we also took our little Fiat Panda hire car out into the sticks, looking for less developed lakea and towns to explore.
One such excursion took us west to Lake Lugano, which is unusual in that half of it is in Italy and half in Switzerland.
Having visited the town of Lugano on the Swiss half of the lake, we stopped off for a walk around Porlezza on the Italian half on our way back to our holiday apartment on Lake Como.
While not quite as spectacular as Lugano, Porlezza proved to be a lovely spot to take a break, have a stroll along the waterfront promenade and enjoy a coffee, at a much better price than in Switzerland!
