In the autumn of 2018 my wife Liz and I spent an amazing two weeks exploring the lakes and mountains of northern Italy.
As well as spending time at the major destinations of Lake Como and Lake Garda, we also took our little Fiat Panda hire car out into the sticks, looking for less developed lakea and towns to explore.
One of the best adventures we had was the drive up into the mountains to the west of Lake Garda, getting up as high as we could, almost to the summit of Tremalzo.
The road up was a fantastic drive, full of hairpin bends and dramatic drops, but it was the uninterrupted view of the high Italian alps, pictured here, that really took our breath away.
