Pointing to the northeast, this jetty on Llandudno's North Parade makes a great lead in line for photos of the sunrise.
Actually, this image was taken an hour after sunrise, and by this time normally the sun is way too bright to allow a sensible exposure to be achieved.
But on this occasion, with hazy cloud covering the sky, it was just about possible to take a photo including the sun that also allowed detail to emerge in less bright areas of the frame.
Still, the serious under exposure needed to prevent the sky burning out has rendered the foreground as a moody sillhouette, with the lit sky adopting a rather striking sepia tint.
Needless to say, this image looks nothing like how the actual scene looked to my naked eye at the time, but isn't that the beauty of using photography as an art medium, that you're free to express vision rather than slavishly trying to mimic reality?
