A pre-Christmas trip over to Limerick in Ireland to see our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren gave my wife Liz and I a few hours to spare before our flight back home from Cork airport.
We were blessed with one of those all too rare days of exceptional winter weather, with hardly a breath of wind and clear blue skies lit by razor sharp sunlight, undiffused by any dust or moisture.
Our chosen location for our pre-flight wait was the seaside town of Kinsale, just a few miles from Cork and a really interesting and lovely place to explore.
It's at this point I was really glad I managed to squeeze a severely reduced camera kit into my RyanAir approved carry on baggage, comprising just a Canon 6D body fitted with my smallest lens, a 50mm f1.4 prime.
And it was this kit that I used throughout our stay in Kinsale to photograph the beautiful scenery, such as this image featuring the highly photogenic waterfront buildings reflecting beautifully in the still waters of the harbour, with pride of place being given to an old anchor mounted on the harbour wall.
