Kinvarra, on Ireland's Atlantic west coast in County Galway, is a sleepy seaside town with a bit of local fishing going on, together with some tourism that supports a small artist community.
On a walk around the town with my wife Liz during one our our regular trips to this part of the world, I was very taken with the old stone harbour, which had some lovely detail to enjoy, such as this dilapidated old rowing boat with a pair of what looked like homemade oars hanging over the stern.
The contrast of the light coloured boat and oars set against the dark water of the harbour looked lovely in the subdued, cloud diffused light, and I spent a happy few minutes photographing the boat from various angles.
This image proved to be most powerful, featuring just the rear portion of the boat together with the oars, cutting out all extraneous detail and allowing the oars to form a diagonal line across the frame
