Kinvarra, on Ireland's Atlantic west coast in County Galway, is a sleepy seaside town with a bit of local fishing going on, together with some tourism that supports a small artist community.
On a walk around the town with my wife Liz during one our our regular trips to this part of the world, I was very taken with the old stone harbour, which had some lovely detail to enjoy, such as this flight of stone steps leading down to the water.
The patterns, textures and colours really looked lovely in the subdued, cloud diffused light, and I spent a happy few minutes photographing the steps from various angles.
This image was created from the first frame that I captured, featuring the steps as a diagonal line through the composition, which proved to be the strongest way of presenting the scene.
