The story behind this image

During our week long stay on Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, my wife Liz and I took a day's ferry and coach excursion over to La Gomera, the second smallest of the Canary Islands just to the west of Tenerife itself.

Part of the day trip was a coach tour around the island's interior roads, taking in the various types of flora that grew at differing altitudes on the dramatic volcanic landscape.

Brief stops at various beauty spots gave me the opportunity to get out and about with my camera to record some of the sights, including this rather extreme volcanic rock upwelling, which resulted this eroded pinnacle of rock seemingly defying gravity.
