When my wife Liz told me she'd booked a holiday apartment overlooking Lake Como in northern Italy for our late summer holiday, I was hopeful of a good view to photograph.
Little did I realise the visual treat in store from the balcony of our apartment, set high in the hills overlooking the quaint lakeside town of Varenna, right in the middle and prettiest part, of the lake.
The weather was quite hazy and cloudy for first few days of our holiday, but then the atmosphere started to clear, revealing the magnificent mountains on the far side of the lake.
So of course I took full advantage of our exalted position to shoot loads of photos and timelapse videos from the convenience of the balcony.
This panoramic collage was captured in early morning, with the sunlight having just having arrived on the roofs of Varenna below us and with the far side of the lake relatively clear of haze.
Just magnificent!
