A three day weekend in late autumn found my wife Liz and I driving around the Lake District in Northern England, checking out some of the many beauty spots in this part of the world.
As usual, the Ordinance Survey was our friend and guide in this endeavour, and with Liz acting as a human satnav (left - no right - no straight on!) we found some lovely places to stop and take in the views.
But I didn't have far to go to capture this lovely rural scene, just a few paces outside the holiday cottage we were staying in just outside Bowness by Lake Windermere.
I'd looked at this scene many times previously during our three day stay, but what made me reach for my camera on this occasion was the light, as low raking sunlight bathed the landscape, bringing out the warmth of the autumnal colours.
