My wife Liz and I were enjoying a long weekend in England's Lake District towards the end of July 2020, driving and hiking around the beautiful landscapes in unusually benign weather.
One of our trips took us southwards from Keswick towards Derwent Water, passing close to the small village of Castlerigg, set in rolling farmland sandwiched between the lake and the uplands of Downthwaitehead.
The scenery here was just gorgeous, complimented by dramatic chiaroscuro lighting in which the farmland in the foreground of this view was brightly lit and set against the shadowed brooding menance of Downthwaitehead in the background.
So of course I had to pull into a convenient layby to capture a few images.
