A beautiful summer's day in the Lake District in Cumbria, England, and my wife Liz and I are making the most of a long weekend spent exploring this amazing region of the UK.
This was the first day of our holiday, and we decided to drive north up to Wastwater, a smallish lake at the foot of Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain.
But to get there we had to pass through Eskdale, which meant that we nearly didn't make it all the way to Wastwater, as the scenery we were travelling through was so stunning I just had to keep stopping to take photos.
Rolling farmland crisscrossed with drystone walls and the odd flock of sheep, with high mountains in the background to the west and all lit by dappled patches of sunlight and shadow from the broken cumulus clouds overhead.
We did finally make it to Wastwater, and had a great time there, but the journey was a real visual feast in itself and well worth taking our time over!
