For the final few days of our holiday in the Italian lakes my wife Liz and I upped sticks and moved from Lake Como a few kilometers east to Lake Garda, for a change of scenery and a fresh region to explore.
We found Lake Garda to be very different to Lake Como, less mountainous and more open, with much sunnier weather.
We drove right around the lake, discovering that our favourite spot was right at the northern end, the small lakeside town of Riva del Garda.
This is a gem of a town, and we spent a few happy hours wandering about taking photos and generally admiring the lovely architecture and scenery before the long drive thought the dusk back to our bed and breakfast to the south of Lake Garda.
