This is the beautiful Ullswater, in the Lake District.
What made this view so appealing to me was the interplay of light and dark between the foreground trees, the lit water and the shadowed hills in the background.
This chiarocscuro lighting effect gives a real depth to the image which brings it to life for me.
As the picture was taken into the light there was very little colour information recorded, so A conversion to monochrome, with a slightly warm tint, seemed appropriate and added to the mood of the final image.
