This is the beautiful Lough Derg, in the Shannon area in the west of Ireland, near Galway.
My wife Liz and I were staying in a lodge right on the lakeshore, which meant I could sit in warmth and comfort with my camera set up ready to go, watching the weather patterns sweep in from the Atlantic.
We had everything mother nature could throw at us. Bright sunshine followed by downpours followed by mist follwed by snow, all within half an hour!
Needless to say we didn't get much walking done, but I was able to run out to the lakeside, take a few photos as the weather changed from one state to another, and dash back in before getting soaked by the next downpour.
It would have been nice to have some good stable weather for walking in, but all things considered, I'm glad we had lively skies - much better for photography!
