It's a cold and snowy winter's day in Snowdonia, North Wales, and I've booked time off work to come here to one of my favourite places in the world to hike and photograph in this whited out wonderland.
Here I am, standing on the shore of Llyn Idwal, in the bowl of the aptly named 'Devil's Kitchen', the gateway to the Glyderau range of peaks.
This is as far as I'm going today. No doubt the views from the top are stupendous, but not worth literally dying for!
I'm quite happy chasing reflections and shapes in the still waters of the lake, and this composition of triangles, based on the brooding mass of Tryfan in the background, is most appealing.
There are many ways to make an interestingly composed photograph, and repeating shapes such as the triangles here, is just one of them.
Converting the image to monochrome, with just a hint of a blue tint, helps to focus attention on the shapes and emphasises the stark nature of Snowdonia on that day.
