Autumn in the Lake District - where else would you want to be?
I photographed this lovely arrangement of warm toned beech leaves by the side of Thirlemere on the only sunny day of our week long stay up north.
Liz and I were driving from home to our holiday apartment and we'd decided to take the scenic route through the lakes on our way.
As we came up to Thirlemere we saw a sign saying 'Lake Drive', so we took it.
I'm so glad we did as the road wound along the side of the lake for almost its entire length, with plenty of laybys to stop in and admire the scenery.
A short stroll through the bracken brought us to the lake shore with the stunning autumn colours just begging to be photographed with the blue of the lake as a backdrop.
How could I resist?
