One thing Snowdonia in North Wales has in abundance is a collection of the most amazing gnarly old trees.
Clinging to life in the most hostile of conditions, these trees add drama and character to the landscape, which is why I love to include one in a photo whenever I can.
This particular example seems to be growing out of solid rock on the shores of Llyn Ogwen, and together with the peak of Pen-yr-Olwen in the background, provide an image that conveys some of the ancient and enduring nature of this part of the world.
Now if only it was raining the Snowdonia experience would be complete!
