During our week long winter break on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands my wife Liz and I managed to explore pretty much all of this relatively small island.
One of the places we liked so much that we went back to a couple of times was the small seaside town of Arrieta, on the north coast of the island.
Relatively undeveloped, Arrieta seemed to be a place where the locals went for a day out and a spot of surfing on the large Atlantic rollers that surge onto this coastline.
The short promenade has just a couple of restaurants on the shoreline, and was bounded by a large wooden and concrete jetty which, although locked off for safety reasons, still made for a great compositional line in this image, set against the sweep of the volcanic lava beach.
