During our week long winter break on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands my wife Liz and I managed to explore pretty much all of this relatively small island.
One of the places we liked so much that we went back to a couple of times was the small seaside town of Arrieta, on the north coast of the island.
Relatively undeveloped, Arrieta seemed to be a place where the locals went for a day out and a spot of surfing on the large Atlantic rollers that surge onto this coastline.
Mind, you, watching the surfers made me realise that surfing is predominantly a waiting game, anticipating the largest possible wave.
Obviously this guy didn't think much of the wave in this photo, and was waiting for something better to come along.
