As a primarily outdoor photographer, I'm used to getting up early and driving miles to see and capture a lovely sunrise over a grand landscape.
But sometimes, in need of a change of view, I'll go exploring no further than my back garden.
One of the best times for these mini-safaris is early spring, when fresh leaves are busrting forth and the coldish nights drench the new foliage with dew.
On one such occasion, with a sharp sunrise and no wind, I spotted these perfectly formed dewdrops on the tips of this poppy leaf.
So carefully manouevering myself into position with the leaf and dewdrops backlit by the rising sun I took this photo, glowing with all the promise and freshness of new life.
