I took this photo of the lighthouse on Talacre beach, North Wales, at midday. Normally I do my landscape photography around sunrise and sunset when the light is soft, warm and directional. Midday light is generally too harsh and flat for me to produce images in the style that I like.
However, the starkly sunlight lighthouse set against the black brooding storm clouds out to sea was too good to resist!
Exposure was tricky, and I made a few overexposed images before finally avoiding over exposure and burn out on the white lighthouse.
I liked this image so much that I made a tryptych of just the lighthouse against the clouds, and it's now hanging on my kitchen wall.
