I don't know how many hundreds (thousands?) of photos I've taken in and around Llandudno on the North Wales coast, but it's certainly one of my favourite places to visit.
One of the reasons I like the North Wales coast so much is that the weather is so changeable. Plain blue skies bore me from a photographic point of view, but that's rarely the case here.
On this particular day the cloud action was especially dramatic, with dark, threatening storm clouds interspersed with patches of blue through which shafts of sunlight swept over the landscape like searchlights.
This chiaroscuro (light and dark) effect is entrancing to me as an outdoor photographer, and i'll make every effort to take a meaningful photo or two when I come across it.
The Little Orme limestone headland at the eastern end of Llandudno bay proved an ideal focal point for this image, with the shaft of light revealing the peak while hiding the slope behind.
Just wonderful.
