A spur of the moment decision to drive around the Wirral Peninsula to have a look at the Liverpool skyline found my wife Liz and I stopping at Seacombe Dock Ferry Terminal, home of the world famous Mersey Ferry.
For Liz, being a Liverpudlian, this brought back memories of childhood trips from Anfield, over the River Mersey by ferry, to spend a day at the seaside of New Brighton with her parents, now deceased.
So of course, we had to take the Mersey Ferry over to Liverpool and back for old times' sake.
We caught the last sailing of the day, so we couldn't get off and explore the Liverpool waterfront, but of course I photographed and videod the experience for posterity.
This view is from the stern of the ferry as it was docked at the Liverpool Ferry Terminal, right next to the world famous Liver Building, and shows the view downriver, taking in the modern skyscrapers and the futuristic catermeran to the Isle of Man.
We now plan to repeat the experience, earlier in the day next time, so we can get off and have a wander around the Three Graces and the renovated Docklands at our leisure.
