Towards the end of August 2020 my wife Liz and I had a change from visiting our usual haunts around North Wales, and headed instead to the banks of the River Mersey on the Wirral Peninsula to have a look at the Liverpool waterfront skyline on the far side of the river.
I was captivated by the combination of modern skyscapers and museum building placed next to the iconic 'Three Graces', including the world famous Royal Liver Building with the two Liver Birds perched on top, watching over the city.
Having viewed the scene during the day I resolved to return near sunset, in order to shoot a time lapse video of the natural light fading from the landscape, to be replaced by the glowing artificial lights on the waterfront buildings.
The evening of the shoot was just lovely, with crisp light and clear skies, and I captured hundreds of still images at regular intervals to create my Merseyside Timelapse #5 video.
This still image was taken about half an hour after sunset, and shows the cool blue natural light of nautical twilight balancing very nicely with the artificial lights of the city.
