Just after sunrise on a midsummer's morning, with a very low tide on the North Wales coast, and I'm about a quarter of a mile out from the North Shore promenade at Llandudno, catching this unusual angle and low angles light on the iconic Victorian pier and Grand Hotel.
There's no better time of the year, or time of the day, to be here, totally alone in the beautiful fresh light with only a few squawking seagulls and the sussurant hiss of wavelets on pebbles and the smell of seaweed for company.
A few minutes later and the light has become too harsh for the kind of image making I'm interested in this morning, so it's back to the car for the drive home, breakfast, and then off to work, still glowing with the pleasure of experiencing such loveliness.
