My wife Liz and I decided to take a night time trip to Llandudno a few weeks ago.
It was the night of the supermoon, when the full moon is at its closest point to earth and so appears bigger and results in higher than normal tides.
With moonrise due at 10.30pm and high tide due at midnight we were in place to hopefully see the moon rise over Llandudno from our vantage point halfway up the side of the Gtreat Orme.
The best laid plans etc. etc. On the actual night in question for weather forecast showed clear skies, but the reality was a layer of cloud right where the moon was due to rise.
We stuck it out on the Great Orme for a while after moonrise, hoping to see something but it was not to be.
So we headed back down to the promenade to see the high tide, which combined with a stiff onshore breeze was resulting in some serious wave action - quite unusual for Llandudno.
Anyway, before the tide came fully in, and while there was still some light in the sky to the west, I took the shots for this panoramic composition, showing the promenade, the Great Orme and the pier. All the major sights of Llandudno in one hit.
A little while later the sea made it all the way to the concrete steps shown on the left of this image, but that's another photo.
