To my mind, the best time to photograph towns and cities is at dusk, as the cool natural light of twilight both contrasts and balances with the warm artificial lights of the roads and buildings.
Of course, you need a lovely location to make the best of this light, and the mile long North Shore promenade at Llandudno on the North Wales coast fits the bill in fine style.
In order to take in the full sweep of Llandudno Bay, from twin headlands of the Little Orme in the east, to the Great Orme in the west, I positioned myself at the end of the iconic Victorian pier which gave me this great view of the entire stretch of coastline.
A couple of dozen overlapping exposures, taken using a carefully levelled tripod to give Adobe Lightroom a fighting chance of blending the frames, resulted in this huge panorama, best seen in its larger version.
